Pear "Moscow" bred by breeder V. A. Efimov. The variety was obtained at the Research Institute of Zonal Horticulture of the Non-Chernozem Strip, but was most widely used in household plots and in garden plots in the Moscow Region.

The variety belongs to the category of popular for cultivation in the conditions of home gardening in the suburbs and was obtained from the crossing of the parent pair "Tonkovetka" and "Cure". To many gardeners, the variety became known as the "Moscow Autumn", or "Sh-11-38."

Varietal characteristic

Fruit trees of the Moskovskaya pear variety are medium-sized and have relative winter hardiness. The crown is broad, pyramidal in shape.

Harvest is formed annually. Yields are quite high.

The description of the variety given by the author suggests a high resistance of fruit plantations to scab damage. In the fruiting stage, fruit stands of this variety enter the sixth year after planting in a permanent place.

Fruits of medium size, weighing no more than 85-105 g, characterized by an elongated pear shape. The main color is greenish-yellow, and the integumentary is represented by a pinkish, not very pronounced blush. The pulp is juicy, sour-sweet, very pleasant taste.

Full fruit ripening is observed in the last decade of August or early September. Harvested is not subject to long-term storage. Subject to temperature conditions and optimal moisture indicators, the fruits last no more than two weeks.

Preventive actions

When planting pear seedlings, gardeners try to choose immune varieties that are highly resistant to fruit rot, black cancer and various types of spotting. The Moskovskaya pear is characterized by the presence of resistance to certain diseases and plant parasites, butFor full protection against damage by pathogenic microflora, it is necessary to carry out the following measures:

  • to protect against scab, it is necessary to conduct timely and competent pruning of fruit stands in the fall and spring;
  • all shoots suspicious of disease are subject to immediate destruction;
  • for prophylactic purposes, highly effective and well-proven Topaz and Horus preparations are used to treat pear crowns;
  • good performance is also shown by spraying the crown in the spring with a solution of Bordeaux fluid;
  • to prevent the defeat of powdery mildew, measures are being taken to destroy the fallen leaves, and fruit trees should be sprayed with "Fundazol" or "Sulfite";
  • to prevent the spread of fruit rot, all affected fruits must be collected, and further destroyed.

Timely use of modern and effective insectofungicidal drugs can minimize the risk of damage to the most dangerous and common diseases and plant parasites.

Essential Care Activities

In addition to preventive measures, the following measures have a direct impact on the productivity and longevity of fruit stands:

  • when growing pears in areas represented by soils with average fertility, about 3 kg of organic fertilizers, 30-40 g of ammonium nitrate or 10-20 g of urea, as well as 50 g of superphosphate and 25 g of potassium sulfate or two glasses of wood ash should be applied annually every square meter. When cultivating fruit trees on depleted soils, the dose of these fertilizers should be increased by a quarter;
  • maintaining a constant and uniform soil moisture has a significant impact on the quality of the fruit, and the standard rate of watering fruit plants is about three buckets of water for each year of pear life;

  • the package of measures for pear care also includes the formation of a plant crown in spring and the sanitary pruning of fruit stands in the autumn;
  • Of great importance is the mulching of tree trunks with components such as peat, sawdust or hay.

In the autumn period, measures are also taken to prepare the plant for winter. Whitewashing, water-charging irrigation and warming of young fruit plants that are not fully matured are carried out.

Reviews and recommendations of gardeners

Numerous reviews about Moskovskaya pear confirm that the variety has a very attractive, golden yellow color and is juicy, tender and buttery, as well as slightly spicy and sugary, with a good taste of flesh. The Moskovskaya variety is perfectly adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of most regions of the middle lane, and if cultivation technology is followed, problems with cultivating this variety do not arise even for beginner gardeners.
